| LOTUS
10.6 (rates)
Alan Wright, unlike other Kiwi designers in our fleet - Bruce Farr
and Laurie Davidson - is not well known outside
New Zealand, yet the 35 foot Lotus 10.6 is probably the most popular
boat of its size in the country, and 'Different Drummer'
is one of the nicest examples we have seen. Our Lotus is the Mark
II version, with walk through transom and wheel steering. The in-boom
furling main sail with electric halyard winch makes two handed sailing
easy. With double berths forward and aft, the boat is suited for
one or two couples, but can sleep up to seven people. The Lotus
offers superior sailing performance to the smaller Beneteau's and
is a great boat for exploring the coast outside the Bay of Islands.
